The menswear world is buzzing about brothers André and Keith Churchwell, who have quietly become influential figures despite their medical careers. Fashion insiders, writers like G. Beyond the Clinic: Doctors and Style Icons

André and Keith Churchwell are both esteemed cardiologists, born in the Jim Crow South and achieving success despite significant obstacles. They’ve cultivated a discerning eye for style, attracting a following seeking an alternative to fleeting trends and superficial influencers.

“A lot of people will say, ‘Oh, well, he’s just a guy who looks good in clothing.’ That is never true. A guy who looks good in clothing knows why he looks good in clothing,” explains Boyer.

“You’re representing the family,” André’s father, Robert, repeatedly emphasized, instilling a sense of responsibility and pride. This upbringing, rooted in the Black church and the history of Black America, profoundly shaped their style sensibilities. Keith recalls seeing his first movie, Bambi, in a coat and tie, and witnessing the relaxed, stylish atmosphere of Sunday church services – a stark contrast to the constraints of daily life.

“We weren’t under the thumb of the man on those Sundays, those treasured Sundays. And so those guys, man, they would come and it would be a dress off,” André reflects. Robert’s limited income didn’t hinder his dedication to style, providing invaluable lessons that guided the brothers’ lifelong pursuit of impeccable taste.
